Independent, credible testing plays a key role when making informed technology purchase decisions. Palo Alto Networks advanced endpoint protection offering, Traps, has undergone extensive third-party testing to validate its strengths in replacing legacy antivirus products.

[AV-TEST](https://www.av-test.org/en/), a third-party security testing organization with extensive experience testing endpoint security software -- specifically, legacy AV -- put Traps through the paces. This is the first time Traps has participated in AV-TEST tests, and Traps the only next-generation endpoint protection offering tested by AV-TEST in 2017.

Results showed **100 percent detection** of real-world attacks, as well as the maximum score on performance, with AV-TEST stating, *"... there was nearly no measurable impact on the newer system."* These results were achieved without any reliance on signatures.

This validation by AV-TEST follows the [AV-Comparatives Approved Business Product award presented to Traps in October 2016](https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/resources/whitepapers/traps-advanced-endpoint-protection-av-comparatives-award). This is a continuation of the efforts made to build upon the foundation of third-party evidence supporting Traps.
